Meet Nolan

Nolan Hosbein was born in West Hartford, CT, and moved to Petaluma, CA just a few months later where I would spend my entire youth. He competed as a soccer and tennis player, playing tennis until his freshman year of high school when a which point he committed fully to running.

He was an average runner at Casa Grande HS, but took a big leap forward in 2021 after training with state XC champion and runner up Colton Swinth and Rory Smail from Maria Carrillo high school. Training with this group led Nolan to a 15:16 5k as a high school junior. In his senior year, though there was little competition, Nolan managed to set school records in the 3-mile XC (14:35), and 3,200m (9:20) while becoming the vine valley athletic league 3,200m champion. In the fall of 2020, he committed to university of Portland (UP).

As a redshirt freshman at UP, Nolan ran a personal best time of 24:28 in the 8k XC, achieved 12th place at the Dellinger invitational 8k (23:58) and earned WCC freshman of the year at the conference championships in 2022.

In 2023 Nolan earned second team all conference and scored the deciding 5th place to send UP to XC nationals where he competed in Charlottesville VA.

Nolan’s holds track PRs in the 5k of 14:23 and the 10k of 29:46, which he ran in the 2022 season at 19 years old. He has also tested himself at longer distances including an impressive 1:07 debut at the Houston Half Marathon. Nolan has also shown is hand on the trials competing in Marin County’s Dipsea race, earning two coveted black shirts. In the 2024 edition of the Dipsea, Nolan ran his quickest time clocking 51:59 for 12th place.

In the fall of 2024, Nolan will head back to UP to compete in another XC and track season, while focusing on a masters of science in Finance. Nolan’s goal after college is to work for a European based athletics company and establish a running community in Europe and continuing to compete on the road and trails.
