Meet Ezekiel

Ezekiel Kimalel Chebotibin is a Kenyan born runner who mostly competes at the half and full marathon distances.  Since 2009, Ezekiel has been competing in Japan and divides his training time between his native Kenya and Asia.

In February 2016, Ezekiel raced in the Yamaguchi half marathon setting a new PB of 1:01:42.  But, it wasn’t until 2018 that Ezekiel would race his first marathon clocking a time of 2:12:17.   After the race, Ezekiel commented “My target today was to break 2:10, but I am happy to have raced my first marathon and will be back stronger next time”.

In 2019 and in what would be Ezekiel’s finest performance of his athletic career, he raced in the Ome 30km, running a new PB and a new course record of 1:29:06, beating Toshihiko Seko’s 38-year-old previous course record.  Continuing his fine form, Ezekiel would go on to record another PB the following month, dipping under 2:10 in the Lake Biwa marathon in 2:09:58.
